Grand Marnier Waffles

These Grand Marnier Belgian Waffles are a great way to start the day. They are light and fluffy and pair well with sausage or bacon. What makes the Belgian waffle stand out from other waffles is that they are lighter and have larger squares with deeper pockets. Enjoy!

Waffle Maker (I recommend the Belgian type that flips and is non-stick)
2 cups flour (I used King Arthur’s gluten free)
 1 tablespoon baking powder
2 tablespoons sugar (I used turbinado)
 ½ teaspoon salt
 2 eggs, large and beaten
 1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons grapeseed or vegetable oil (if your waffle maker is not a non-stick, use ½ cup)
 2 cups milk
2 teaspoons Grand Marnier (you can use vanilla instead)
 1 tablespoon zest of orange

Warm up your waffle maker.

In a large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients. In another large bowl, mix all the wet ingredients. Then, mix the wet ingredients well with the dry. Ladle 1 cup batter over the grill and close the lid.

When waffle is finished, place on a pan in a warm oven. Makes 4 waffles or 4 servings. I like to serve with fresh fruit, butter, whipped cream and syrup.
