This month I am featuring an Easy Tortellini Sausage Mushroom Soup. Tortellini are a small pasta dumpling that remind me of the larger Asian steamed wonton. But what I don’t know is where the word tortellini comes from. As most of us would guess, it is somewhere in Italy. It’s origin is apparently disputed between Amelia just north of Rome or Bologna which is north of Florence. Traditionally they are stuffed with a mix of meat. Which is usually some combination of pork loin, prosciutto , mortadella, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, egg, nutmeg and then served in broth. Some Italians say the shape of tortellini resembles a turtle.
Reprisal, our sailboat, has sold and is moving to Boston Harbor. Our next step is that we are moving to Washington State. As of today, Dave and I have bought a house in the Olympic Peninsula in the community of Port Ludlow. There will be more cooking to come at our new home and eventually on another boat when Dave and I get to enjoy the waters of the Pacific Northwest.
Enjoy your summer!
