Adventurers at Sea! Summer, Sightseeing, and Spaghettini 1024 768 Cooking Aboard with Jill

Dave and I are cruising with seven other boats from our yacht club.  We are heading to Canada on a 6-week voyage.  We did a fair amount of cruising in Canada last year and look forward to seeing more of beautiful British Columbia.

We left our home dock in Port Ludlow 5 days ago.  The first stop was Everett WA.  While there, I went to the Farmer’s Market with some of the other women on our cruise.  It was fun to purchase some provisions for cooking in the coming days.

We enjoyed an Italian dinner with friends at Lombardi’s near the marina in Everett.  I ordered a vegetarian pasta dish that was new to me.  It is called Spaghettini alla Nerano.  This iconic dish originates from the Amalfi Coast in Italy.  Along with the spaghettini it included thinly sliced zucchini (that was sautéed), arugula cream sauce, fontina cheese, fresh basil and sun-dried tomatoes.  It was light and delicious.  I found the recipe and plan to put it on my blog after we get home.  This may sound like something you would like to try in the future.

Our next stop was La Conner WA.  It is located on the Swinomish channel and is an ideal place for boating and walking in the cute historic town.  On the opposite bank from La Conner, is the Swinomish Indian Tribal Village.  My footer photo shows the ceremonial grounds near the river that is not far from the village.  The Swinomish own their land.  Many people who want to live near La Conner have the option to buy a home at several of the residential communities on the reservation.

In a few days, Dave and I will be back in Canadian waters.  I look forward to writing to you about the coming adventures and food in the June newsletter.  It is exciting that summer is just around the corner!

From my table to yours,
