Here are my favorites for Thanksgiving that have already been published.  They include Clam Dip,  Spatchcock Turkey, Ina’s Herb Apple Stuffing Casserole, Slow Cooker Orange Cranberry Sauce and Deep Dish Pecan Pumpkin Pie.  I am adding two new recipes to the Thanksgiving line up.  They are Easy Make Ahead Gravy and Pumpkin Apple Butter Pie.

The key to a successful Thanksgiving is to prepare as many dishes as possible ahead of time.  Except for the spatchcock turkey, all of these recipes can be made ahead of time and frozen. However, I recommend making the herb apple stuffing the day before, cover and refrigerate.  Then just pop it in the oven after the turkey is resting before dinner is served.

In my blog under “Great Tools,” you can find a section called Thanksgiving Tools.  This may give you some ideas on what equipment will make your holiday dinner easier to prepare.  There is another section called Slow Cookers.  I like to use my slow cookers (also called Crock Pots) to keep things warm, such as gravy in a small one and mashed potatoes in a larger one.  That frees up space on your stovetop and oven for other dishes.

My other time saving tip is from Ina Garten (The Barefoot Contessa from the Food Network).  She often says that you don’t have to hand-make everything.  If you have a favorite dish from the grocery store or an on-line source, that is suitable as well.  My last tip for saving time you probably already know.  I love a potluck, so see what your guests might like to bring.

Dave and I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving from our table to yours!
