A Time to Be Full of Thanks & Food: A Mashup of My Family’s Best Dishes! 1024 603 Cooking Aboard with Jill

Next week we will be celebrating Thanksgiving.  That thought alone makes me hungry.  I recently watched a program where a woman made an elaborate thanksgiving dinner all from scratch for 20 people.  There are few people I know who would want to take that on.  At the very least, I think having a potluck for the holiday helps alleviate stress.  For decades, Dave and I have been celebrating this holiday with the Perrone family.  Nanda is scheduled to fly out next week, and we enjoy cooking together in the kitchen.

Here are some of my favorites.  For our appetizer, the family favorite is Clam Dip, but I also recommend Pumpkin Shaped Cheeseball.  Our next course is a soup, and this is how I make that task easier.  I like to buy a carton of organic butternut squash or sweet potato soup (I recommend the Organic Imagine brand).  The main course includes roasted turkey, gravy, Ina’s Herb Apple Stuffing Casserole and sautéed green beans with garlic.  For the cranberry relish, I have another time saving tip.  I buy Harry and David’s “Country Cranberry Relish”.  However, if you prefer to make this, check out my recipe for Slow Cooker Orange Cranberry Sauce.  For years dessert has always been Deep Dish Pecan Pumpkin Pie and Pumpkin Apple Butter Pie.  However, this year I want to make life a little easier and only make the first pie recipe I just mentioned.  There are many places here on the Olympic Peninsula where I can buy a nice pumpkin pie.  We wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!
